dm+d Changes (January 2021 Update)

Changes have been made to the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Device (dm+d) maintained by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) whereby imported and special order products have been added to help deal with supply shortages with certain licensed products. An updated list of such products included as at the time of writing is attached as follows (see Specials/Imports added at request of DHSC to mitigate shortages in the supply chain), this may be subject to change week on week.

As a consequence of these changes, GP practices should be aware that they may be asked by dispensing pharmacies to provide a special order or import prescription for such products where a UK version of the product is not currently in stock for dispensing. Where requested, such items should be prescribed at AMP level.

Cegedim Healthcare Solutions PMR systems have been brought up-to-date in line with the changes.
