When you prescribe high risk drug Sodium Valproate to females, there must be a warning to ensure contraception is provided in view of the significant risks of birth defects and developmental disorders that could occur in children through its use during pregnancy. This applies to females of childbearing age.
We have update the age range of patients for whom the warning is now presented from 12 years to 49 years inclusive to 12 years through to 55 years inclusive.
This change of age range is reflected in the prescribing decision support available within DLM 830 that is due for release soon. In addition we are providing a patch that applies this change from DLM 800 and later. We will notify you when this patch is ready for release.
Important - If your Vision 3 instance is not yet updated to DLM 830 and so does not yet reflect this change in the software, you must check the age of female patients when prescribing Sodium Valproate.
