dm+d Changes - Imported & Special Order Products (July 2022 Update)

Changes have been made to the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Device (dm+d) maintained by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) whereby the list of products that may be prescribed as imports and special orders to help deal with supply shortages with certain licensed products has been amended. An updated list of such products included as at the time of writing is presented as follows.

Specials - Imports added at request of DHSC to mitigate shortages in the supply chain-1

GP practices should be aware that they may be asked by dispensing pharmacies to provide a special order or import prescription for such products where a UK version of the product is not currently in stock for dispensing. Where requested, such items should be prescribed at AMP level.

Cegedim Healthcare Solutions PMR systems are being brought up-to-date in line with the changes.
