dm+d Changes to Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine

Cegedim Healthcare Solutions has been notified by NHS Digital of forthcoming changes being made to the NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Device (dm+d) maintained by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA). These are that the Actual Medicinal Product Pack (AMPP) details are being changed for the following Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine products in the dm+d (changes highlighted in Yellow).

AMPP: 39115711000001107 COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 30micrograms/0.3ml dose concentrate for suspension for injection multidose vials (Pfizer-BioNTech) (Pfizer-BioNTech) 6 dose

AMPP: 39214511000001101 COVID-19 mRNA Vaccine BNT162b2 30micrograms/0.3ml dose concentrate for suspension for injection multidose vials (Pfizer-BioNTech) (Pfizer-BioNTech) 1170 dose – 195 x 6 dose vials

These changes will be made available from the dm+d release on 1st February 2021.

These changes will result in the vial label being updated to clarify that 6 (rather than 5) doses can be drawn from each vial of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine.

The changes are being made in accordance with latest Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Patient Group Direction (PGD) and training being made available for preparation and administration of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine that allows for 6 doses of the vaccine to be extracted per vial.

During the period while these changes are applied, Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine vial labels and cartons may continue to state that a vial contains 5 doses.

These changes to the dm+d will be included within the Gemscript release being deployed during March 2021.
