Issue with Prescribing Parallel Import Generic Drugs

Cegedim has identified an issue in part of the logic that Vision uses that determines whether or not a generic drug comparable to a brand name product can be prescribed.

Currently, if all the available dispensable items for a generic drug are parallel import items, Vision determines that the generic item cannot be prescribed. This logic is incorrect; a generic drug can be prescribed when all the available dispensable items are parallel imports. This issue has only affected a small number of specific products, these are listed as follows.

Drug List

The logic will be corrected to fully resolve this issue and this change will be visible once the February 2022 release of Gemscript drug dictionary data has been deployed to Vision users. In the meantime, the products affected may be prescribed via the issue of a handwritten prescription.

Cegedim Healthcare Solutions apologises for any disruption caused by this issue.
